Welcome! I’m Rozeta Persaud, a proud resident of Bank Essequibo Cemetery South Zeelugt in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant culture of our homeland has shaped my identity. As a community member, I cherish the rich traditions, from the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and cook-up rice to the lively sounds of our local music, which resonate deeply in our hearts.
Guyana is a unique blend of cultures, with influences from our Indigenous peoples, African heritage, Indian traditions, and more. I often chuckle when I hear folks refer to Guyana as “Mini India,” because our diversity truly enriches our experiences. We partake in local festivities, like Mashramani, where the streets come alive with colorful parades and exhilarating music. And while I might be miles away from home, I find joy in connecting with the diaspora community—a reminder of the shared love we have for our homeland.
As I navigate my journey, I hold dear the stories and memories that tie us together. Whether it’s the laughter shared over a plate of roti or the pride in our natural wonders like the Kaieteur Falls, my heart remains anchored in Guyana.
