Greetings! I am Rudra Amichand, a proud resident of West Coast Demerara, specifically from the vibrant community of 12 Block Y New Housing. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the Essequibo Islands, I’ve always been inspired by our rich cultural heritage, from the lush landscapes to the lively festivals that bring our people together. Whether it’s sharing a plate of delicious roti and curry or indulging in the sweet delights of homemade guava cheese, food is a significant part of my life—a true connection to our roots.
As someone who values honesty and respect, I strive to embody these principles in my daily interactions. Living in Guyana means embracing the diversity of our people, including the Amerindian heritage that shaped our history. I often reflect on the early days of our indigenous communities, like the Tainos and Kailagos, and how their legacy continues to influence the vibrant culture we celebrate today.
