Greetings! My name is Ruel Vanhersel, and I'm proud to call Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a logger, I spend my days immersed in the lush greenery of our beautiful Guyanese forests, where the rhythms of nature echo the vibrant culture of our people. Guyana, often referred to as "mini India" by some, is a melting pot of traditions and flavors that embody the essence of our rich heritage.
From the aromatic spices of our beloved dishes to the warm smiles of neighbors sharing stories, the spirit of community is at the heart of my life here. I often find myself reminiscing about the delicious Guyanese cuisine that connects us all, whether it's the mouthwatering pepperpot or the comforting roti and curry. The diaspora community always brings a smile to my face when they share their love for our food, often saying things like, "I miss my Guyanese food; can’t wait to be back!" It’s these connections that remind me just how special our culture is, no matter where we roam.
When I'm not working, you might find me exploring the beautiful landscapes of Guyana or engaging in lively conversations about our traditions and customs. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
