About RUPAN RAM MOHAN

About Rupan Mohan

Hello! My name is Rupan Mohan, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home, specifically from the lively 13 Market Dam in Zorg, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant community, I’ve always appreciated the rich cultural diversity that Guyana has to offer. From the delightful flavors of Guyanese Chinese cuisine, which many of my friends from Trinidad rave about, to the warmth of our local traditions, my roots here run deep. The lush landscapes and the serene rivers remind me daily of our unique connection to nature.

As someone who has experienced life both here and abroad, I understand the ties that bind the Guyanese diaspora. Though many have ventured out, the stories and memories shared, whether it’s about the sweet taste of a homemade pepperpot or fond reminiscing about cricket matches, always bring us back to our homeland. I often hear comments from those who left decades ago, like my friend Royston, about wanting to reconnect with our heritage—an essential part of who we are.

In my heart, I carry the essence of our culture, from the stunning views of River Cashew Hill to the bustling energy of our local markets. Whether it’s sharing a plate of cook-up rice or a chat about the latest cricket match, I believe in the power of community and the importance of keeping our traditions alive, both here in Guyana and among our fellow Guyanese across the globe.
