Hello! My name is Rupesh Hardial, and I proudly hail from the lush landscapes of the Essequibo Coast in Guyana. As a farmer, I am deeply connected to the land that feeds our communities and sustains our traditions. The vibrant greenery and fertile soil of Pomeroon-Supenaam have shaped my life, allowing me to cultivate not just crops, but also a sense of community that thrives on sharing and supporting one another. Every harvest brings a celebration, reminiscent of our rich culinary heritage, from pepper pot to stew chicken, connecting us to our roots and each other.
In my work, I often reflect on the words of many in our diaspora who recognize the uniqueness of Guyana. It’s true—our nation is a hidden gem, much like the legendary “El Dorado” that many dream of discovering. Despite the challenges we face, I am optimistic about our growth and development. Just as our neighbors may have their strengths, we, too, have the potential to rise, armed with the understanding of governance and proper management that will lead us to better times. From our beautiful wooden homes in Georgetown to the blessings of our rivers and forests, every corner of our land holds a story worth telling.
