Hello! I’m Rushell Morrison, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, specifically from the vibrant community of Sand Reef Dageraad in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and rich waterways of Guyana, I have developed a deep appreciation for our local culture and the warmth of our people. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of savory pepperpot or the sweet taste of metemgee, Guyanese cuisine is an integral part of my life, connecting me to my roots and the stories of my ancestors.
Having lived in Guyana all my life, I’ve had the pleasure of exploring many of our beautiful landmarks, from the stunning Kaieteur Falls to the bustling markets of Georgetown. Despite some challenges our country faces, I believe in the resilience and spirit of our community. I often find myself reflecting on the comments from our diaspora, who share their mixed experiences of love and frustration about our homeland. These conversations remind me of the importance of representation and the need for improvement while cherishing our unique Guyanese identity.
As I navigate life in this beautiful land, I aspire to foster connection and understanding, both locally and with the Guyanese diaspora abroad.
