Welcome! My name is Safeyah Mohamed, and I proudly call 51 Sans Souci Wakenaam in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon River has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our rich natural heritage. From the bustling markets filled with fresh fruits like pommerac and sapodilla to the serene beauty of the Kukurite Hill at Wakapau, my roots are intertwined with this vibrant land.
As a resident of Wakenaam, I have witnessed the warmth of our community, where stories are shared over plates of pepperpot and roti during festive gatherings. The spirit of our culture resonates strongly in our local events, such as those held at St. Chad's Mission, where we celebrate our diversity and traditions. Whether it's enjoying a lazy afternoon by the Pom River Massarie Settlement or reminiscing about the beautiful landscapes that define our nation, I remain deeply connected to my Guyanese identity.
Though I have ventured beyond our shores, I cherish the relationships I’ve built with fellow Guyanese in places like Queens, where our shared experiences create a sense of belonging, no matter the distance. Through my journey, I aim to highlight the essence of Guyana, fostering connections and celebrating the stories that unite us, whether here or abroad.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
