Hello! My name is Sahadeo Bhagwanddeen, and I’m a proud mechanic from the vibrant Essequibo Coast, specifically on Middle Street in Cullen, Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes of Guyana, from the mighty Essequibo River to the rich greenery of our forests, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our country’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot or a bowl of metemgee, there's nothing quite like the flavors of home that remind me of family gatherings and festive occasions.

As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I can relate to the emotions of those who long to return to their roots. I often hear comments like, “I’ve always wanted to go back to my home country,” and it resonates with me deeply. Guyana is not just a place; it's a community, a feeling, and a connection to family, even if many of them have spread across the globe. I cherish the small but significant ties we maintain, whether it's through shared recipes or stories of Carnival in Georgetown, reminding us that no matter where we are, we carry a piece of our homeland within us.

Working as a mechanic gives me the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life, and I love hearing their stories about their travels and experiences. Like many, I believe that Guyana's potential is immense—despite the challenges we face, our culture remains resilient and vibrant. My goal is to contribute to my community while also celebrating our rich heritage through every interaction and every repair I make. As we often say, “Come to Barbados!” but I always say, “Don’t forget where you came from!”
