Greetings! I’m Saif Shabeer, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast, nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in the vibrant community of Columbia, I’ve been fortunate to immerse myself in the rich cultural tapestry that Guyana offers. From the bustling markets of Anna Regina to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River, my childhood has been filled with the aromas of pepperpot and the sweetness of ripe mangoes that remind me of home.
As a Guyanese, I cherish the warmth of our people and the resilience that binds us together, especially in times of challenge. Whether it’s enjoying a Sunday cook-up with family or sharing stories about our heritage, my connection to this land is deep-rooted. I often reminisce about our spirited conversations about the Essequibo and our camaraderie in moments of national pride, especially regarding our ongoing dialogue with Venezuela.
Having some family abroad, I understand the diaspora experience all too well. Many of my cousins and friends have ventured to places like Canada and the UK, but we always keep the bond strong, celebrating our culture and traditions no matter where we are. I look forward to connecting with others who share a love for our beautiful country and its diverse communities.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
