Hello! My name is Salicia Welcome, and I am proud to call the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. Residing on the Essequibo Coast, I cherish the vibrant community and the rich culture that surrounds me. Growing up in Guyana, I’ve been surrounded by the incredible flavors of our local cuisine. From the delicious pepperpot served during Christmas to the ever-popular cook-up rice on special occasions, food is a vital part of our culture that I love to celebrate. In my free time, I enjoy sharing these culinary delights with friends and family, and if you ask anyone in my circle, they'll tell you that good food brings us all together—just like the gatherings at River Parika or Hoobodie Settlement, where laughter and stories flow as freely as the Demerara River.
Though I currently reside in Regina, I hold a special connection with the Guyanese diaspora, where we often reminisce about our beautiful country and the unique experiences that shaped us. Whether it’s discussing our roots or planning a return trip to explore places like Quitaro Island and Arasaro Koria, the bond we share is strong. As I continue to work and build a life here, I carry with me the spirit of Guyana—one that is rich in culture, community, and an everlasting sense of home.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
