Hello! I’m Salim Alli, a conductor based in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, where I have the pleasure of living on 11 Back Street Coffee. My love for music and the rich sounds of our Guyanese culture inspires me daily. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and the rhythm of our local communities, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the heart and soul of Guyana, from the bustling markets to the serene banks of the Pomeroon River.
Our culture is as diverse as the flavors of our beloved cuisine. I take pride in enjoying the best Chinese food in South America, which many of us here firmly believe is unrivaled anywhere else, even when compared to our Caribbean neighbors! My roots run deep, and whether it’s a festive celebration or a simple gathering, the warmth and camaraderie of my fellow Guyanese bring joy to my life. I often reminisce about the vibrant streets of Georgetown, where the spirit of the people truly shines.
As a part of the Guyanese diaspora, I cherish the connections we build with one another, whether here in Guyana or across the seas. No matter where we go, we carry our culture, our pride, and our resilience with us.
