Hello! I'm Sandy Phillips, a dedicated labourer currently residing on Bank Essequibo's 10 Public Road Farm in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush greenery and vibrant rivers of our land, I've cultivated a deep appreciation for our rich culture and traditions. Whether it’s enjoying a plate of pepperpot on special occasions or sharing a cool coconut water with friends, the simple joys of life here fill my heart with pride.
As a proud Guyanese, I cherish our diverse heritage, which reflects the unique blend of our Indigenous roots and the influences from the various cultures that have settled in our country. The warmth of our people and the stories shared from the bustling markets of Georgetown to the serene beaches of Shell Beach create a sense of unity among us. Even though many of us are part of the diaspora now, I always feel a connection to my homeland, whether it's through the rhythms of our calypso music or a shared laughter over “how we pronounce our names.” Those quirks are what make us who we are!
