Hello! My name is Sanita Kidram, and I proudly call Coast 09 Backstreet in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana my home. As a housewife, I find joy in nurturing my family and sharing the rich tapestry of our culture with them. From the vibrant sounds of the local markets to the aroma of curry and roti wafting through our kitchen, every day is a celebration of our heritage. I am deeply connected to our roots, and I believe it is essential to keep the traditions alive, whether it’s through preparing our favorite dishes or sharing stories of our ancestors.
Though many of my family members have moved abroad, the love for our homeland remains strong. I often reminisce about the days spent in the lush landscapes of the Pomeroon, where the rivers tell tales as old as time. Just like one of my friends said, “I’ve always wanted to go back to my home country.” The diaspora community is a testament to our resilience and unity, and I cherish the moments when we gather to reminisce about the beauty of Guyana, whether it's our diverse festivals like Mashramani or simply enjoying a good meal of pepperpot with family.
As I navigate life here, I hope to inspire others to embrace our culture and foster connections, both locally and within the Guyanese diaspora. Much like the enthusiastic comments I come across, reflecting on our homeland and its people fuels my passion for sharing our stories.
