Hello! I'm Sanjay Seeram, a proud resident of Demerara, specifically from the Good Land Canal No. 1 area in the Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. My roots run deep in this vibrant land where the mighty Pomeroon River flows and the spirit of our people shines bright. My community is a blend of cultures, influenced by our diverse heritage, and you can often hear the echo of laughter and the sounds of steelpan music filling the air, especially during festive occasions like Mashramani, where we celebrate our nation's rich history and unity.
Food is a big part of my life, with traditional dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice bringing us together at the table. Whether it's a family gathering or sharing a meal with neighbors, the joy of eating is an integral part of our culture. I love hearing stories from fellow Guyanese, both at home and in the diaspora, who reminisce about their experiences and the warmth of our homeland. It’s heartening to know that even those far from home, like the Windrush generation who traveled to Britain, carry our Guyanese spirit with them.
I am deeply rooted in my faith, as I believe that, "THIS UNIVERSE AND EVERYTHING IN IT BELONGS TO GOD!!!! WE OURSELVES BELONG TO GOD." This guiding principle shapes my perspective on life and community.
