Hello! My name is Sara Khan, and I proudly call the beautiful Essequibo region, specifically Block AA in Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up here has ingrained in me a deep appreciation for the lush landscapes and vibrant culture that define Guyana. From the serene banks of the Pomeroon River to the lively markets filled with fresh local produce, every corner of my community tells a story. I am passionately connected to my roots, often sharing traditional dishes like pepperpot and metemgee, which remind me of the warmth of family gatherings.
Living in Essequibo has also allowed me to understand the unique blend of cultures that make up our nation. I cherish the diversity among my neighbors and friends, which enriches our interactions and celebrations. Whether it’s reveling in a mashramani parade or enjoying the rhythms of our local music, I believe these moments are what truly bind us. I love hearing from fellow Guyanese around the world, as their stories and experiences remind me of the strength of our diaspora and the love we share for our homeland.
