Hello! My name is Sarah Courtman, and I proudly call Hall Essequibo Coast my home. Growing up in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the diverse cultures that enrich our community. Here, the vibrant mix of Indigenous, African, East Indian, Chinese, and European influences can be tasted in our culinary delights—from savory pepperpot to mouthwatering roti and curry.
My daily life is often accompanied by the soft sounds of soca music that echo through our neighborhoods, especially during festive seasons. I enjoy celebrating local holidays with family and friends, where we gather to share traditional dishes and stories that connect us to our heritage. Whether it's a joyful Diwali celebration or a spirited Mashramani parade, these moments strengthen my bond with both my fellow Guyanese and the broader diaspora community spread across the globe.
As a resident of Hall Essequibo Coast, I am deeply connected to the rich history of our land, from the serene waters of the Pomeroon River to our cherished local landmarks.
