Hello! My name is Sarfena Martin, and I’m proud to call Bank Essequibo my home. Nestled in the scenic Pomeroon-Supenaam region, I cherish the vibrant culture that comes alive through our local festivals, delicious cuisine, and the warmth of our community. Growing up here has given me a deep appreciation for our rich history, from the days of Dutch Guinea to the diverse roots that define our beautiful land today.
I find joy in sharing the love for our traditional Guyanese dishes. Whether it’s the aroma of freshly cooked pepperpot during the holidays or the sweetness of a ripe golden apple, these flavors connect me to my family and to those who are far away. I often hear from friends and family in the diaspora how they miss our food and culture, and it warms my heart to be a part of that connection. Just like many of you, I can't wait for more direct flights from places like Toronto to Guyana, making it easier for everyone to experience our homeland firsthand!
