Hello! I am Sarita Sookhan, proud resident of Demerara, specifically from the Sea View Housing area. Growing up in Guyana, I have a deep appreciation for our rich culture, vibrant communities, and, of course, our mouth-watering cuisine. Whether it's the spicy aromas of pepperpot during the holidays or the sweet indulgence of a fresh coconut tart from the market, food is a central part of our gatherings and celebrations. I cherish these moments with family and friends, especially during events like Mashramani, which truly showcase our diversity and spirit.

Living in Demerara provides me with the perfect backdrop to explore the beauty of our landscapes, from the lush green hills to the tranquil banks of the Demerara River. I often find myself reminiscing about the simplicity of life in our small towns and the warmth of our communities, which remain connected even in the diaspora. As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I hold dear the bonds we create, whether through reminiscing about our childhood in the countryside or sharing tales of our adventures abroad.
