Hello! My name is Sarwan Kumar, and I’m proud to call the Essequibo Coast my home. As a policeman, I dedicate my life to serving and protecting our vibrant community in Windsor Castle, Lima, and the surrounding areas. Living in Guyana, I've witnessed the incredible resilience of our people, especially as we navigate both the opportunities and challenges that come with our nation's recent oil boom. While the economy is changing, I keep my focus on the heart of our culture—the warmth of our people, the richness of our traditions, and the beautiful landscapes that make Guyana truly unique.
Growing up in this culturally diverse nation, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for our local cuisine, from the tantalizing pepperpot to the sweet and savory dishes served during our festivals. The lively spirit of our festivals, especially Mashramani, reflects the unity among our Indian and Afro-Guyanese communities, even as some issues persist. I believe that understanding and celebrating our differences is key to building a better future for all Guyanese. My personal mission is to foster community engagement and support local initiatives that uplift our neighborhoods.
As a member of the diaspora, I understand the hopes and concerns of those living abroad. I stay connected with my brothers and sisters in the Guyanese community around the world, sharing stories and experiences that remind us of our roots. I invite everyone to explore the beauty of our homeland, whether through visiting our iconic landmarks like the Kaieteur Falls or enjoying the uniquely rich flavors of our food.
