Hello! I’m Sasenaryan Somai, a proud Guyanese labourer residing on the beautiful Coast 8 Public Road in Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in a land where the Essequibo River meets the Atlantic Ocean, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the vibrant culture and rich heritage of Guyana. From the rhythmic beats of our folk music to the tantalizing flavors of our national dish, pepperpot, every aspect of my life here reflects the warmth and resilience of our people.
As a member of the local community, I cherish the bonds we share, whether it’s gathering for a meal of cook-up rice and fried plantains after a long day of work or celebrating the colorful festivals that bring us all together. I often reminisce about my childhood adventures in the Upper Pomeroon River area, where the lush green landscapes and the sounds of nature create a sense of belonging. My roots are intertwined with the stories of my ancestors, and I carry their spirit with me wherever I go.
Though I may work tirelessly to support my family, my dream is to inspire the younger generation to embrace their Guyanese identity and strive for a better future. I believe that no matter the challenges we face, the heart of our community beats strong, and together, we can overcome any obstacle. As we say, "Guyana is home," and I am proud to be a part of its journey, both here and in the diaspora.
