Hello! My name is Savitree Alli, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast home, specifically from the vibrant community of 55 Factory Dam Johanna in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region. Here, life flows like the mighty Essequibo River, and the warmth of our people is matched only by the richness of our culture. Growing up surrounded by lush landscapes and the tantalizing aroma of our beloved pepperpot and cook-up rice, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the flavors that define our identity.
As a resident of Guyana, I cherish our unique heritage, which is a blend of Indigenous, African, Indian, and European influences. This diversity is evident in our festivals, music, and, of course, the food that brings us all together. Whether it's celebrating Mashramani with the vibrant colors of our parades or gathering around a plate of spicy curry with family and friends, these moments are what I live for. And though many of us have spread out across the globe—from New York City to as far as Venezuela—our ties to Guyana and our love for each other remain unbreakable.
