Hello! I’m Savitri Singh, a dedicated teacher residing in the beautiful Essequibo Coast at 18 Perseverance Estate, in Pomeroon-Supenaam. My heart beats for education, and I believe in nurturing the minds of our future generations. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been inspired by our rich cultural heritage, from the lush landscapes along the Lower Pom River to the vibrant communities that celebrate our diversity through festivals and traditional dishes, like pepperpot and metemgee.
Living in Essequibo, surrounded by the serene flow of the Pomeroon River and its tributaries, I cherish the beauty of our natural resources, including the enchanting River Macrubishi Island and River Waikinipa Mainland. These locations not only serve as a backdrop to my life but also fuel my passion for environmental education, which I strive to incorporate into my teaching. I take pride in sharing stories of our land and its people with my students, emphasizing the importance of preserving our cultural and natural heritage.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I often reflect on the connections that bind us, whether it’s through a shared meal or a conversation about our beloved homeland.
