Growing up here, I always had a strong connection to our lush rainforests and the hardworking spirit of our people. Living away from home hasn't dulled my love for our culture. In fact, it strengthens it! When I'm cooking up a storm, I often find myself channeling the flavors of Singh's roti shop that I miss dearly. And even though I may be miles away, the camaraderie of the Guyanese diaspora in places like Queens reminds me that we are all part of one big family, eager to celebrate our traditions and share our stories. I cherish every moment spent with fellow Guyanese, whether it’s laughing about our unique Creole phrases or fondly remembering the charm of Lower Pomeroon.
