About CLAWRENCE SCOTT

About Clawrence Scott

Hello! My name is Clawrence Scott, and I proudly call Baramita in the Barima-Waini region of Guyana my home. As a miner, I spend my days working in the heart of our rich and diverse landscape, surrounded by the lush beauty of the rainforest. Baramita is not just a location; it's a community steeped in history and vibrant culture, where the spirit of our indigenous peoples and the warmth of our diverse heritage come together. Whether it's sharing stories around a fire or exchanging recipes for our beloved dishes, like pepperpot and cook-up rice, there's always something to connect over.

Guyana is often regarded as a cultural crossroads of the Caribbean, and I feel fortunate to be part of that narrative. My family, much like many others, has roots that stretch across the Caribbean—from Barbados to Trinidad—reflecting a shared history that we cherish. The interconnectedness of our communities is evident in the way we celebrate occasions, enjoy the fruits of the land, and bond over the extended family ties that tie us to this beautiful region. I often find myself reminiscing about the famous guinep fruit that brings back fond memories of childhood summers spent with cousins.

As a proud Guyanese, I welcome anyone who wishes to explore our culture, whether through our delicious cuisine or the breathtaking beauty of our natural landmarks. From the enchanting rivers of the Pomeroon to the vibrant life in Georgetown, there's an adventure waiting at every corner. If you ever find yourself in Baramita, don’t hesitate to reach out—I'd love to share a meal and perhaps introduce you to some of the local legends that make Guyana truly special.
