Greetings! My name is Sean De Abreu, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Nestled in the heart of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I find joy in the rich culture and vibrant community that surrounds me. Growing up here, I’ve been shaped by the lush landscapes, the mighty Essequibo River, and the warmth of my neighbors, who often gather to share stories over a plate of bake and saltfish, a breakfast staple that brings us together. As we say in Guyana, "God almighty!!!" it’s these moments that truly highlight the essence of our way of life.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I am deeply connected to the traditions that define our identity. From savoring long macaroni with mustard and garlic, which some might say resembles our friends from Trinidad, to embracing the diverse languages spoken throughout our communities—each day is a celebration of our unique heritage. I cherish the influences of the Caribbean and South America that flow through our culture, reminding me that we are part of a larger diaspora that shares a rich history and a resilient spirit.
