Greetings! I’m Semone Drayton-Philli, a dedicated nurse proudly serving my community in West Bank Demerara. Growing up in the vibrant culture of Guyana, I have always been inspired by our rich traditions, from the mouthwatering flavors of cook-up rice to the rhythmic beats of our folk music. My journey in the healthcare field is fueled by the same compassion I learned from my family, who taught me the importance of taking care of one another, much like our close-knit communities along the Pomeroon River.

As a nurse, I understand the challenges we face, especially in a country where economic changes have been rapid, and many feel the strain of rising costs. I strive to bring positivity and support to my patients, drawing strength from the resilience of our people. I often reminisce about my childhood home near Canal Lower Pom River, where the beauty of nature meets the warmth of our culture—a reminder of the importance of community and the connections we build.

Through my work, I hope to bridge connections not just locally but also with the Guyanese diaspora around the world. Whether it’s sharing stories about our beloved St. Helena or discussing the challenges we face post-oil discovery, I am passionate about representing my nation and contributing to the betterment of our society.
