Greetings! My name is Sewkumarie Bhagwanddeen, and I proudly call Bank Essequibo 488 North New Scheme in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region my home. Nestled along the Essequibo River, this area is rich in both natural beauty and cultural heritage. From the vibrant markets filled with fresh produce and local delicacies like pepperpot and metemgee to the serene landscapes that beckon for exploration, there’s always something to celebrate in our community.
As a lifelong resident of Guyana, I have witnessed the many changes our nation has undergone, especially the impact of historical events and political landscapes on our development. I understand the importance of educating others about our history, from the challenges we faced through the PNC-APNU era to the present-day opportunities that have arisen, particularly in light of our newfound oil wealth. Engaging in meaningful discourse about our past empowers us to build a better future for our children and strengthens our diaspora connections.
In my spare time, I enjoy sharing our rich Guyanese heritage with friends and family, whether it’s through cooking traditional dishes or discussing the importance of landmarks like the St. George’s Cathedral and Kaieteur Falls. My hope is to foster a sense of unity among our people, both at home and abroad, as we navigate our journey together.
