Hello! I’m Seymour Patrick, a proud miner from the beautiful Essequibo Coast, specifically 35 Fear Not, Lima Sands, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has deeply influenced who I am today. This land is not just my home; it’s a place of rich cultural heritage, where the spirit of our ancestors lives on through our traditions, cuisine, and community bonds.
As a Guyanese, I take immense pride in our culinary delights, especially the famed duck curry and the beloved dhall puri, which are near and dear to my heart. Cooking these dishes is a way for me to celebrate my roots and share a taste of home with others. Whenever I can, I love to gather with family and friends, sharing stories and meals that remind us of our shared identity, whether it’s over a plate of saltfish and bake or some sweet plantains by the riverside.
Having spent years working in the mining industry, I’ve seen firsthand the resilience and spirit of my fellow Guyanese, whether in the bustling markets of Georgetown or amidst the tranquil beauty of our rivers. Our community thrives on hard work and a deep connection to our land, from the Poke-Nocker who seek gold and diamonds to the farmers who cultivate our rich soil. Through my journey, I aim to contribute to our vibrant diaspora by highlighting the beauty of our culture and the strength of our people.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
