Greetings! My name is Shafeerah Khatoon, and I proudly hail from the lush landscapes of Pomeroon-Supenaam in Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the winding Pomeroon River, I've developed a deep appreciation for the vibrant culture and rich traditions of my homeland. From the mouthwatering flavors of pepperpot and roti to the lively rhythms of chutney music, my roots are intertwined with the essence of Guyanese life. I believe that every meal shared and every story told strengthens the bonds we have as a community, whether we are near or far.
As a member of the diaspora, I carry the spirit of Guyana wherever I go. I love connecting with others who share my passion for our culture, whether it’s through lively discussions about our favorite dish (which, by the way, I argue is the best in the Caribbean!) or reminiscing about our cherished spots like River Boradaro and the beautiful scenic routes along the Lower Pom River. It’s these conversations that keep our heritage alive and thriving, even when miles apart.
Though my journey may take me to unknown places, my heart remains firmly rooted in Guyana.
