Hello! My name is Shalinie Thomas, and I proudly call River Mora Settlement in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Growing up in this vibrant community, I have been immersed in the rich cultural tapestry of Guyana, where our diverse heritage is reflected in the food we share and the stories we tell. Whether it's savoring a hearty plate of dal paired with curry chicken—never alone, of course—or gathering around for a meal of shorleen and terbannee, the flavors of home are always close to my heart.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I cherish the lush landscapes that surround me and the warm connections I have with my neighbors. From the mighty Essequibo River to the lively markets filled with local produce, every corner of Guyana tells a story. My experiences and adventures have also inspired me to explore our neighboring countries, like Suriname, and I look forward to discovering more of our Caribbean family in the future.
Through my work and community involvement, I aim to foster connections within the Guyanese diaspora, celebrating our shared heritage and supporting one another as we navigate life both at home and abroad.
