Greetings from the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam in Guyana! My name is Shanti Vissoon, a proud housewife residing in the beautiful community of Bank Essequibo. Growing up in a land rich in diversity, I’ve come to cherish the blend of cultures that define our nation—from the indigenous Carib heritage to the influences that have shaped our Caribbean identity. Guyanese people often say we are Caribbean because our roots run deep into the history of the Carib Indians, who traversed from the inland areas to the islands now known as the Caribbean Sea.

As a devoted homemaker, I spend my days nurturing my family and sharing the culinary delights of Guyanese cuisine. Roti, a staple in our household, holds a special place in my heart—after all, who can ever disrespect a good roti? I find joy in preparing meals that bring us together, celebrating our traditions and flavors that echo through generations. From the beautiful landscapes of the Upper Pom River to the serene charm of St. Monica, every corner of our region tells a story that connects us all.

Though I’m rooted here, I feel a strong bond with the Guyanese diaspora, who carry our culture across the globe. I often hear remarks from those living abroad, eager to visit our lush homeland and experience its beauty firsthand. It's a reminder of the unity we share, regardless of where we are, as we hold onto our identity and heritage.
