Hello! I’m Sharmila Ramdahin, a proud teacher residing in the scenic area of Creek Upper Pomeroon River, nestled in the lovely Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. My roots run deep in this culturally rich land, where the sounds of the Pomeroon River bring back memories of my childhood and the vibrant traditions that shape our community. Educating the next generation is my passion, and I strive to instill a love for learning while incorporating our unique Guyanese history and culture into the curriculum.
Growing up in Guyana, I’ve always cherished our vibrant food culture, from the delicious pepperpot to the sweet treats of guava and coconut. The essence of our diverse heritage—infused with elements from Indigenous, African, East Indian, and European backgrounds—reflects in every meal we share. Just like how I enjoy a good glass of El Dorado Rum during family gatherings, I believe that food is a powerful connector, bringing us together, regardless of where we are in the world.
As part of the Guyanese diaspora, I deeply value the bonds we maintain with family and friends, whether they are still in Guyana or scattered across the globe. I am proud to share the stories of our beloved country, from the lush landscapes of Makouria Wakapau to the bustling streets of Georgetown. Together, we honor our heritage while embracing the future, ensuring that the spirit of Guyana lives on in every heart, no matter how far we roam.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
