About SHARON ANN RICHARDS

About Sharon Richards

Hello! My name is Sharon Richards, and I’m proud to call the West Coast Demerara my home. Living in the vibrant community of Sera Lodge, I cherish the blend of cultures that makes Guyana unique. Here, it’s not uncommon to find a church, a mosque, and a Hindu temple all on the same street, embodying our spirit of tolerance and harmony. This diversity enriches our everyday lives and strengthens our connections, whether it's sharing a plate of pepperpot at a family gathering or exchanging greetings with my neighbor, the local coconut man, as we go about our day.

As a housewife, I dedicate my time to nurturing my family and fostering a warm environment that reflects our rich Guyanese heritage. I often draw inspiration from my surroundings, whether it’s taking leisurely strolls along the Pomeroon River or enjoying the vibrant markets that brim with fresh produce and local delicacies. My heart beats for our community, and I love participating in local events that celebrate our culture and history, from the rhythmic sounds of calypso to the more peaceful moments of reflection by the Essequibo River.

Through the years, I have seen how our Guyanese spirit transcends borders. As part of the diaspora, I take pride in sharing our stories and traditions with those abroad, reminding them of the warmth and resilience that define us. Whether we’re sharing our experiences over a virtual cup of black cake or reminiscing about our beloved land, I believe our connections keep our culture alive, no matter where we are in the world. πŸ’ͺπŸΏπŸ‡¬πŸ‡Ύ
