Growing up in Guyana has instilled in me a deep appreciation for our diverse heritage, particularly the flavors of our local cuisine. From a hearty plate of cook-up rice to the sweetness of cassava pone, food is a significant part of our gatherings and celebrations. I cherish moments spent sharing meals with family and friends, exchanging stories and laughter, much like the diaspora community often reminisces about their roots. It’s in these connections that I find strength and inspiration, particularly as we navigate the complexities of development and opportunity back home.
