Greetings from the heart of Bank Essequibo, Parika Backdam! I’m Shazad Ally, a proud farmer deeply rooted in the rich agricultural traditions of Guyana. With my hands in the soil and my heart in the community, I cultivate a variety of crops that not only feed my family but also support the vibrant markets of our beautiful country. From the sweet taste of ripe plantains to the aromatic essence of fresh herbs, every harvest reflects the bounty of our land and the love we have for it.
Living in Parika, I am always inspired by the stunning landscapes that surround us—whether it’s the serene banks of the Pomeroon River or the lush backlands that offer a glimpse of our rich heritage. My work is a tribute to my ancestors, who tilled these lands before me, and I take great pride in sharing our local produce, such as cassava and rice, with both locals and the diaspora. It’s a joy to connect with fellow Guyanese around the globe, as we share stories and recipes that remind us of home.
When I’m not working on the farm, you might find me vlogging about my experiences, inspired by my Dad, Chris, who always encouraged me to embrace and showcase our culture. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
