Hello! My name is Shazad Samuel, and I proudly call Essequibo Old Road Greenwich my home. Growing up in the vibrant region of Pomeroon-Supenaam, I've learned to appreciate the rich heritage and the warmth of our community. As a labourer, I engage in work that not only supports my family but also connects me to our land, which is filled with the lush beauty of the Essequibo River and the surrounding landscapes. From St. Monica to Lower Pom River, each area has its unique charm that contributes to the heart of Guyana.
Food plays an integral role in my life, with local dishes like pepperpot and the ever-popular roti bringing family and friends together. We love to gather and share stories over a plate of delicious cook-up rice, often accompanied by the laughter that echoes through our homes. It's these moments of connection that remind me of our Guyanese spirit, whether reminiscing about our childhoods at the manatees of Yaramai or sharing a laugh with friends about the latest happenings in the community.
