Greetings! I’m Shazim Alli, a dedicated labourer based in Essequibo, specifically at Parika on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam. Growing up in this vibrant region, I’ve always been surrounded by the rich culture and traditions of Guyana, from the sweet aroma of ginger beer and pepperpot wafting through the air during festivities to the lively sounds of our local music echoing through the streets. My roots run deep here, much like the mighty Essequibo River that flows nearby, connecting not just our land but also our people.
As a proud Guyanese, I embrace our community’s resilience and spirit, often reflected in the humor and camaraderie of my neighbors. Whether it’s reminiscing about childhood memories at River St. Chad’s Mission or enjoying a plate of cook-up rice with friends, every moment is a celebration of our heritage.
