About SHEMAR CAHKINEEL JINAB NICKOSI PRINCE

About Shemar Prince

Hello! I’m Shemar Prince, a proud resident of the Essequibo Coast in the beautiful Suddie Housing Scheme. Growing up near the Pomeroon River, I’ve always had a deep connection to the lush landscapes and vibrant communities that define our region. From the sweet aroma of rice and peas cooking at my neighbor’s home to the lively sounds of the market on a Saturday morning, each moment of life here is a reminder of the rich culture we share. Our diverse heritage, where Indigenous, Afro-Guyanese, East Indian, and Portuguese roots converge, shapes our unique identity and daily experiences.

As someone who enjoys exploring the culinary delights of Guyana, I often find myself indulging in delicious dishes like pepperpot and roti, not to mention the mouth-watering fresh fish caught from our rivers. The rich flavors tell the story of our land and people, and I love sharing these experiences with friends and family. Being rooted in this community also means celebrating our festivals, whether it’s Diwali lights shimmering in the night or the rhythms of Mashramani that bring everyone together in joyous celebration.

Living in a diaspora-connected community, I cherish the stories and connections that extend beyond our borders. Whether it’s hearing about life in Suriname or sharing laughs about the quirks of Guyanese culture, I believe in fostering relationships that keep our traditions alive. There’s a unique bond among us, and I strive to be a part of the dialogue that connects us all, celebrating our shared past while looking towards a bright future.
