Growing up, I was surrounded by the delightful aromas of pepperpot and roti being prepared in family kitchens, reminding me of our Indian and African influences that shape our culinary landscape. As part of the diverse mosaic of Guyanese identity, I celebrate the unique contributions of our Indian ancestors, from the Bhojpuri-speaking communities to the Tamil "Madrasi" heritage that often goes unrecognized.
Having lived in a community where the warmth of hospitality resonates in every gathering, I cherish the connections fostered through food, music, and shared stories.
