Hello! I’m Shemika Neblett, a proud resident of 01 La Bagatelle Leguan in the beautiful Pomeroon-Supenaam region of Guyana. Growing up here has instilled in me a deep love for our vibrant culture, from the rich flavors of our local dishes like pepper pot and the unmatched taste of Guyanese Chinese food, to the breathtaking sights of our natural wonders like the Kaieteur Falls. Each day, I am reminded of the warmth and resilience of our people, despite the challenges we face.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I carry a piece of home wherever I go. I often find myself reminiscing about the lively conversations shared over a plate of cook-up rice or the laughter that echoes during festival gatherings. It’s these moments that highlight our unity and shared experiences, even as many of us seek better opportunities abroad. It's important for us to celebrate our heritage and support one another, especially in times where living in our homeland can feel increasingly difficult.
