Hello! My name is Sherry Sookram-Kella, and I proudly call Essequibo my home. Nestled in the vibrant Pomeroon-Supenaam region, my neighborhood in 42 Block 8 New Housing reflects the warmth and resilience of our people. Growing up amidst the lush landscapes and rich culture of Guyana, I cherish the smells of freshly cooked cook-up rice and callaloo, which remind me of family gatherings and celebrations.
In my community, we often come together for clean-up events, inspired by the collective spirit that defines us. Just as I’ve seen in our neighboring Suriname, education and volunteerism play vital roles in fostering a cleaner environment.
