Greetings! My name is Shervin De Yonge, and I call the beautiful Essequibo Red Lock Mainstay in Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. Working in the mining sector, I am passionate about contributing to the development of our region while ensuring that we honor the rich cultural heritage that defines Guyana. From the lush rainforests to the magnificent rivers, every corner of our land carries a story, much like the hearty dishes we enjoy - from curry duck to the ever-popular pepperpot, which warms not just the belly but the heart.
Growing up in Guyana, I learned the importance of community, where every stranger is often treated as an uncle or aunty, reflecting our deep-rooted connections. Whether Iām sharing a meal with friends or discussing the latest news about freedom of speech in our nation, I appreciate the spirited conversations that connect us, both here and in the diaspora. As we reminisce about our homeland's beauty and challenges, it's important to support one another, as evidenced by the countless voices advocating for change and improvement.
