Hello! My name is Sherwayne Marks, and I proudly call the Essequibo Coast my home. Nestled along the vibrant public road of Hampton, I embrace the rich culture and warm community spirit of Pomeroon-Supenaam. As a labourer, I find fulfillment in hard work, supporting my family and contributing to our local economy. The sounds of the Essequibo River and the aroma of curry and rice wafting from nearby homes remind me daily of the diverse influences that shape our beautiful Guyana.
Growing up in a melting pot of cultures, I’ve been lucky to experience the blend of our Indigenous roots, African heritage, and Indian customs. Whether it's enjoying a plate of pepperpot during Christmas or celebrating Phagwah with friends and family, these traditions unite us and connect us with the Guyanese diaspora around the world. I often hear from my friends abroad—like @dawnchetty1497 from Bihar, India—who share the love for our homeland and its unique culinary delights.
As we journey forward, the motto "One Guyana" resonates deeply with me. Despite the challenges, I believe in the strength of our community and the potential we hold together. Whether it’s working alongside my neighbors or sharing stories of our beautiful landscapes like Lower Pomeroon and Calabash Creek, I cherish our collective identity and the bond we share as proud Guyanese.
Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
