Greetings! My name is Sheryl Ferreira, and I proudly call Essequibo 14 Good Hope on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam my home. As a lifelong resident of this beautiful region, I cherish the deep-rooted traditions and vibrant culture that make Guyana truly unique. From the rich flavors of our renowned pepperpot and the sweetness of our cassava pone to the lively rhythms of our local music, each day is a celebration of our heritage.
Living in Essequibo allows me to revel in the beauty of our landscapes, from the lush savannahs to the winding rivers, including the Arasaro River, where many of us gather to socialize and share stories. I understand the pride that comes with being Guyanese, especially as we witness our nation grow and evolve amidst the global stage. It's hard not to reflect on the challenges we face, such as the ongoing discussions around our borders, yet I remain optimistic about the potential of our resources in transforming our future.
