Hello! I’m Shiran Shankhan, a dedicated teacher based in the vibrant community of Old Road Cotton on the Essequibo Coast. My roots run deep in Pomeroon-Supenaam, where the lush landscape and the flowing waters of the Pomeroon River inspire my passion for education and community engagement. Growing up here, I’ve been fortunate to experience a rich blend of cultures that shape our identity — from the mouthwatering dishes like pepperpot and cook-up rice to the festive celebrations that bring everyone together.
As an educator, I strive to nurture the minds of the next generation while instilling a sense of pride in our rich heritage. I often incorporate local stories, folklore, and the diverse cultural practices of our people into my lessons to create a connection between my students and their roots. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
