Welcome to my corner of the world! My name is Shivika David, and I am proud to call Essequibo 6 Hyde Park, located on the East Bank of Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant communities of Guyana has shaped my appreciation for our rich heritage. From the tantalizing flavors of pepperpot and the warmth of a good cook-up rice to the hustle and bustle of the local markets, the essence of Guyana is woven into the very fabric of my life.
As a resident of this beautiful region, I cherish the close-knit connections that bind us, whether it’s gathering for Diwali celebrations or sharing stories over a plate of fried fish by the river. My family and I often visit the nearby villages, where I feel the pulse of our culture through the laughter of children playing in the streets and the sound of the cricket matches echoing in the background. I’m also connected to our diaspora community, where the stories of home resonate deeply, reminding us of our roots no matter where life takes us.
