Greetings! I am Shobha Rahaman, a proud resident of 3 La Bagatelle, Leguan, in the Pomeroon-Supenaam region of beautiful Guyana. Growing up surrounded by the lush landscapes and vibrant rivers, I have always cherished the warmth of our local culture. Whether it’s enjoying a hearty plate of pepperpot during the festive season or taking a leisurely boat ride along the Essequibo, every moment spent here resonates deeply within my heart. The aroma of our culinary delights and the rhythm of our folk music are constant reminders of my roots.
As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, I find immense joy in connecting with fellow Guyanese, whether it’s sharing stories with my friends abroad or reminiscing about the stunning views from the St. Monica Upper Pom River. I believe that our culture thrives on these connections; even a simple conversation about our heritage can spark friendships, just as I witnessed with my mother and her Spanish teacher, both of whom instantly bonded upon discovering their shared origins.
