Hello! My name is Shonny Trotz, and I proudly hail from the vibrant West Coast Demerara, specifically the 321 Block X New Housing area. Growing up surrounded by the rich landscapes of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara, I have developed a deep appreciation for our lush environment and the cultural heritage that makes Guyana unique. Whether it’s the splendid views of the Pomeroon River or the friendly smiles of our community, every moment spent here holds a special place in my heart.
As a true Guyanese, I have a passion for our culinary delights. I can’t help but reminisce about the flavors of Sybil’s in New York whenever I indulge in a plate of puri filled with delicious yellow lentils and curry. Food is a vital part of our culture, and I find joy in sharing our traditional dishes with friends and family, both at home and in the diaspora. It’s these connections that keep our culture alive, whether we’re at a local gathering or far from home.
