Greetings! My name is Shushelia Persaud, and I proudly call River Abrams Creek in Upper Pomeroon, Pomeroon-Supenaam, my home. Growing up in this vibrant region has shaped my identity and instilled in me a deep appreciation for the stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Guyana. From the lush rainforests to the lively markets in Georgetown, every corner of this country tells a story, and I cherish being part of that narrative.
As a resident of Guyana, I am passionate about our culinary delights, especially the beloved dal puri and flaky roti that always bring comfort and joy to my family gatherings. It's these flavors that remind me of home, even as I engage with the diaspora community abroad. I enjoy sharing our unique traditions and customs, whether it's through cooking or celebrating our festivals that honor our diverse roots, including those from Indigenous, African, Indo-Guyanese, and Amerindian cultures.
In addition to my roots, I love connecting with fellow Guyanese and sharing our experiences. Whether reminiscing about life along the Pomeroon River or discussing the latest happenings in our beloved homeland, I find immense joy in fostering a sense of community. Pomeroon-Supenaam lies on the Atlantic coast northwest of Georgetown. Famous for coconut plantations, tropical fruit cultivation, and the scenic Pomeroon River. Anna Regina serves as the regional capital.
