Greetings! My name is Shyam Hiera, and I proudly hail from the vibrant community of Essequibo 6 Unity East Bank in Pomeroon-Supenaam, Guyana. Growing up in Guyana, I have always been surrounded by a plethora of flavours that excite the palate. From the sweet and tangy taste of pineapple seasoned with a sprinkle of salt, reminiscent of home, to the delicious local dishes shared among friends and family, food is at the core of our community. Landmarks such as the River Grant stand as a testament to our natural beauty, offering a serene escape and a space for connection with nature and one another.
While I may be rooted in the soil of Guyana, I am also part of a larger diaspora that keeps our culture alive, even across oceans.
